Can You Tell (Live on Letterman) (Video)

When their debut album, The Rhumb Line , dropped in August, Ra Ra Riot were releasing videos seemingly every day , but all s been quiet since their performance on Conan at the beginning of September. The Syracuse band are still on tour behind Rhumb Line , and took to Letterman s stage last night to do Can You Tell, one of Rhumb s more mellow tracks. I stopped and listened. The band is Ra Ra Riot. I had never heard of them before. I may just have to pick up this CD. And I haven't bought a new CD, by a new band in, dare I say, years.

Lucinda Williams - Little Honey - Alt-country queen, Lucinda Williams has been one of my favorites since her 1989 self-titled release. A gifted songwriter, Williams often pens songs that are dark and wrenching. But this latest outing finds her in a happier mood. While the subject matter may be lighter, the music–shit kicking blues and rock–is tougher than past outings. There’s even a cover of an AD/DC song, “Long Way to the Top.” As always, her honey-rough vocals cut right to the heart of her songs. Do I have to pick favorites? Well, OK: “Jailhouse Tears” Elvis ...
