Our friends at other blogs generally have all things Radiohead on lock, so we rarely are first to the punch on them. These friends have already made a vast majority of the internet aware of this stunning new video for House Of Cards, but we wanted to make sure we got it to the small percentage that might only visit MOKB... Really, I just want to be able to keep MOKB up and hit the replay button over and over. All the details and explanations are available here. Here is a really great "making of the video" as ...

New Radiohead Video - "House Of Cards"

New Radiohead Video - "House Of Cards" thumbnail icon: New Radiohead Video - "House Of Cards" Radiohead's posted the new video for the In Rainbows come-hither slow jam "House Of Cards," and fittingly, it's got lots of shots of Thom making sultry bedroom eyes. Maybe? Tough to say for sure, mostly because none of the Yorke images, nor any in the entire clip, were generated with cameras. Or light. Instead, "3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects" and the "video was created entirely with visualizations of that data." Right. Why just talk in maths when you can fully ...

Radiohead & Google Open Source Laser-Generated Video For House Of Cards
Published 7/14/2008 by synthhead at Synthtopia
In Radiohead’s new video for House of Cards, no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data. Radiohead has partnered with Google to open source the data for the video: A few weeks ago we heard about a project Radiohead was working on. The band was making a new video, but they weren’t using any cameras, just lasers and data. As you might imagine, we were intrigued. ...

Video of the Week - Radiohead: "House of Cards"
Published 7/15/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Ivan Juarez-Mrazek) at The Fertile Crescent
[image] It was bound to happen sooner or later and what better band than Radiohead to have the distinction of being the first to receive " Song of the Day " and "Video of the Week" honors for the same song? As you may recall, I have quite a fondness for this track and believe it is one of the strongest found on In Rainbows . Where the song stood out mainly because of its simplicity and intimacy, the accompanying video is distinguished by its technological originality. Created without the use of cameras or lights, "House of Cards" employs a combination of structured light and Lidar laser-enhanced scanners to ...

The die hard fans may already be in the know about the new ‘House of Cards’ video. It’s awesome!! “No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.” - I can’t translate any of that into simple terms, but it’s dope! Check it ...

Someone thought it would be a good idea to PhotoShop some animals to look "sexy," i.e. completely and totally revolting. (via Buzzfeed) I swear I could smell Christian Bale in the air last night, since it was the black carpet premiere of The Dark Knight in New York City. We saw the batman symbol moving along the sides of tall buildings (our screams of delight almost got us kicked out of a fancy restaurant). But one question. How in the HELL did Lauren F*cking Conrad get to go to the premiere? (Just ...

Radiohead's 'House of Cards' video: No lights, no camera, 'action'
Published 7/16/2008 by Annie Barrett at Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch
For Radiohead's new "House of Cards" video, 3-D plotting technologies reconstructed the geometry of Thom Yorke's face and the two directors' houses. Cameras and light are sooo June 2008, so they didn't use those things. The resulting laser-light show is exactly how I pictured "House of Cards" in my head. Ha! No. That was this. Anyway, ...

I was really impressed and ecstatic about the new Radiohead video, for In Rainbows slow jam “House Of Cards,” when I first talk about it last week. Now, finally, the video has surfaced on the web (well actually it’s been on for a few good days now, but I’ve been away and stuff like that) and let me tell you it doesn’t fail any of my grandeous expectations I had for it. It’s simply stunning. Incredible how complex marvels of today’s technology (the video has been shot entirely with lasers, no cameras!) can help create something so beautiful in it’s whole simplicity. ...

Music Radiohead Uses Lasers To Build ‘House Of Cards’ radiohead_cards.jpg As popular music’s reigning kings of experimentation, Radiohead have always been ahead of the curve with their videos. For “House Of Cards,” their latest clip from In Rainbows , they moved beyond cameras to create a visual by using advanced 3D plotting technology. Director James Frost shot lasers and “structured light” at his subjects to capture data about the relationships between objects and people, which were then mapped out in these startling teal-colored dot patterns.
