Days before the Stateside premiere of the feature-length coda to Ricky Gervais’ TV series Extras, Mark Follman caught up with the British comic as he shot a scene with a Great Dane for his first starring role in a Hollywood film. Ricky Gervais Stands Up For The U.S. Thursday, Dec 27, 2007 4:26AM British comedian Ricky Gervais has announced he'll make a rare trio of Stateside stand-up appearances next summer. Gervais, perhaps best known in the U.S. as the creator and star of the U.K. version of "The Office" and "Extras," will kick off the run July 12 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., and then head East for two shows at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City (July 14-15). “Ghost Town” is the kind of movie that can sink or swim on its casting alone. I mean, it’s not like we haven’t seen this film before: A cranky loner has to step outside of his comfort zone and learn to connect with people again, due to some crazy supernatural coincidence!
More specifically, as you can probably tell from the title, this is a romantic ghost story. You know, like “Ghost.” Or “Just Like Heaven,” with Reese Witherspoon.
