This week's Sesame Street clip
Discopop Directory —
You know, that muppet blog idea I had last week is seeming better and better as the Sesame Street posts stack up... This week, Neil "Doogie Howser MD" Patrick Harris pops up on the puppet show playing a singing, dancing shoe fairy. (Yes, you read that right.) The clip's on Youtube (youtube) - but embedding has been disabled, so you'll actually have to click on a link to watch it. The horror. For those of you who can't bear to leave the site (we understand), here's an equally brilliant clip of Harris on US chat show Regis and Kelly:

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is not the only recent musical appearance for Neil Patrick Harris. Check out this fantastic musical number from Sesame Street on YouTube!
AfterElton.com’s Michael Jensen got to chat with Neil Patrick Harris at the CBS party this past weekend during the Television Critics Association Tour, and asked him about his appearance on Sesame Street as “The Shoe Fairy”. Here’s what NPH had to say:
“Not the shoe fairy – the fairy shoe person. I was asked by Sesame Street to be a part of a song and I just leapt at the opportunity. Jim Henson was the only person ...

One last post before I head to the airport. This one is so good that I just couldn’t get on the plane without first sharing it with you. 2008 will forever go down as the year of Doogie…or Barney…or Dr. Horrible…or maybe just the year of Neil Patrick Harris. See, the world is awesome and Neil Patrick Harris just needs to rule it. Check out a sneak peek at NPH’s upcoming appearance on Sesame Street as The Shoe Fairy. Once again our boy is singing his way to the top. Neil Patrick Harris on Sesame Street ...

Actor Indoctrinates Kids to Be Gay Shoe Lovers [The Gays]
Gawker —
We mentioned it a while back but now there's video of GAY actor Neil Patrick Harris infiltrating the minds of our most precious non-oil resource, children, with his wicked gay shoe agenda. He plays the Shoe Fairy on the season premiere of Sesame Street and sings like a dream and magically puts shoes on people's feet. He does this all in front of poor, innocent little ones. Just terrible. Where's Jerry Falwell when you need him? Oh right. Dead. HAH. [via Towleroad]

The Telefile - Doogie Strikes Again... and It's Awesome!
The Telefile —
I'll admit it. I've been a little depressed since Dr. Horrible ended. Even the good doctors' Twitter updates can't cheer me up. I'm in the Neil Patrick Harris doldrums. Desperately wafting along in a Doogie-less wasteland just waiting for new episodes of How I Met Your Mother to come back. And then, then, the most magical thing happened. This wonderful link arrived in my IM and it is from YouTube (which isn't being nice and letting my embed it or whatever so you've got to follow the stupid link). Neil Patrick Harris is on Sesame Street as a shoe fairy and it is Legen -- wait for it -- dary. Now I'm happy on so many levels because Neil Patrick ...

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AS A FAIRY
TINSEL GURUS —
Neil Patrick Harris play a Shoe Fairy on the 39th season premiere of Sesame Street. Watch it here. Harris spoke to AfterElton about the role: "Not the shoe fairy – the fairy shoe person. It’s quite a different connotation. I was asked by Sesame Street to be a part of a song and I just leapt at the opportunity. Jim Henson was the only person I ever wrote a fan letter to as a kid and I’m a wild fan of puppets and the Henson Company in general. They wrote a song, wanted me to sing it. There are all these different mythical characters this season. Sandra Oh plays another type of fairy that Abby Cadabra creates and so we ...

It's not enough that he's Emmy-nominated for "How I Met Your Mother" and also the star of the year's coolest web-only production, Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog." Now Neil Patrick Harris is also guesting on "Sesame Street." And the actor - who was outed last year - is playing the Shoe Fairy. Someone has a sense of humor - Harris sure does. Click the image to see the vid - for some reason PBS has disabled embedding. (Thanks GMMR for the tip!)

Pop Candy: Top Stories & Community Feed —
Good morning, everyone! I'm worn out but thrilled to be back from Comic-Con. Stay tuned for a bunch of photos, including a recap of Saturday's meetup, an inside look at the Pop Candy comic book and lots more. Here's a tease: Comiclostguys Yep, that's me with Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse . We met at the Dharma Initiative booth on the convention floor. I told them many Pop Candy readers were huge Lost fans and the long wait was killing us. Cuse assured me it would be worth it when the series returns next year. [image] It’s that time again folks, when we all come together to bask in the warm glow of YouTube and see the big picture… the truth about what’s going on outside of our own little world. This week we get an amazing performance from a guy who one-ups Jeff Healey by playing guitar with his feet, an earthquake that disrupts Judge Judy’s courtroom, a Neil Patrick Harris appearance on Sesame Street , and a reminder of just how un-PC the world used to be, courtesy of the Emmy-nominated Mad Men . Man, those were the good ol’ days. No one would have a problem with Mr. T shooting Snickers bars at a speed walker back in the 60’s, now would they? Dude Plays Guitar with No ...
Another Neil Patrick Harris musical number
PopWatch —
Another Neil Patrick Harris musical number In case you can't get enough of Neil Patrick Harris' singing , check out this advance clip from a forthcoming Sesame Street episode, in which NPH (pictured) plays the singing Shoe Fairy. Speaking of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog , Hulu is now playing all three acts for free in one clip. We've embedded it after the jump, for those of you who have 42 minutes on your hands. (Or don't, but have very lenient bosses.) Enjoy.

Aug. 23, 2008 | "In the Woods" and "The Likeness" by Tana French Book covers I'd heard good things about Tana French's first novel, "In the Woods," so when a paperback copy arrived with her latest, "The Likeness," I decided to check out the first chapter. I came to four days later with unwashed hair and a massively backlogged to-do list. Although technically crime fiction (the narrator of each book is a police detective), French's fiction is hypnotic and truly mysterious in a way I associate more with Donna Tartt. There's something fundamentally unsolvable about these stories, which makes that all the more compelling. -- Laura Miller Irma ...
Celebrities Who Looked Kind of Funny on Sesame Street
Unrealitymag —
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great thing when a celebrity makes an appearance on Sesame Street. It’s a fantastic show for kids and it’s nice to see them doing their parts in caring for the youth of America. However, it doesn’t mean that these celebrities don’t look like jackasses while they’re on the show.
Well, they don’t necessarily look like jackasses. Sometimes they’re downright scary as hell. And if you don’t know what I’m talking about simply type in “James Earl Jones” and “Sesame Street” into Youtube.
No worries on that as ...
Sesame Street turns 40 – Part 3: Star power
CliqueClack TV —
Welcome to part three of my four-part retrospective of Sesame Street on the occasion of it hitting the big 4-0. If you missed it, be sure to also check out part one and part two.
As I’ve mentioned before, Sesame Street is everywhere on television and in pop culture (Scrubs, The West Wing, Angel… need I go on?) but it’s pretty safe to say that Sesame Street is just as hip and relevant as the shows that allude to it are. After all, what other program that isn’t news can boast to hosting not one, but two different first ladies? Not only did ...
I Would Consider Watching the Emmy’s if Neil Patrick Harris Hosted
Unrealitymag —
Word is that Doogie himself might be hosting the Emmy’s this year.
Thesp Neil Patrick Harris is in the midst of cutting a deal with CBS and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to host the 61st annual kudos on Sept. 20. Insiders cautioned that the deal is not yet completed, but all sides are working toward setting Harris as this year’s Emmycast frontman as soon as possible.
A CBS rep declined comment late Wednesday.

My Top 10 Favorite Guest Appearances On Sesame Street
Knocked Up Celebs —
It’s Sesame Street’s 40th Anniversary this week and everyone has been celebrating. I finally figured out what I wanted to do to celebrate remembering this show has been on longer than I have been alive. When I was a kid and still even when I watched the show with my kids I loved the guest stars. They were always so funny interacting with Grover, Elmo or Cookie Monster. Here is my list of the Top 10 favorite guests on Sesame Street.
