She and Him Take Over Conan With Yo La Tengo
Spinner — Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward -- aka She and Him -- may have a thing or two to prove given the ratio of good to bad actress-turned-singer albums. (Not to hate on Lindsay Lohan or Minnie Driver, of course.) But getting Yo La Tengo to serve as the duo's backing band on Conan O'Brien Tuesday night wasn't a bad way to start. Deschanel and Ward, along with the beloved indie vets, performed 'Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?' -- the first single from She and Him's album, 'Volume One.'

Earlier in the day they recorded a performance for Conan O'Brien which aired later that night. Yo La Tengo sat in as their backing band..... Zooey must have been struggling to sing considering she wasn't feeling well (see the sign she held up instead of talking later at Webster Hall).
