Merrick here... This'll be on the forthcoming DVD/Blu-Ray of J.J.'s TREK movie. Here's a deleted scene showing Romulan Nero in Klingon captivity on Rura Penthe (the prison place Kirk & McCoy went to in STAR TREK VI). Nero stating "The wait is over"...seen in the film's promos but not in the actual theatrical release...comes from this sequence. This comes to us via Spike TV. Behold!!! People who don’t know much about me probably wouldn’t guess that I’m a huge Star Trek fan. But the facade of being normal cracks at the seams, once you start noticing Trek-themed coasters sitting around my apartment.
Rest assured, J.J. Abrams’ reboot of Star Trek was, in my opinion, the bee’s knees, only outdone this year by a few films including the majestic Inglourious Basterds. It set the stage perfectly for a series that I hope maintains the quality of the first outing.

One of the cooler things from Spike's Scream Awards last night was the premiere of this deleted scene from Abram's Star Trek reboot. While the film was great, a lot of fans complained about the absence of Star Trek 's quintessential alien race, the Klingons. Well, apparently they weren't left out at all. In this scene, explaining what Nero was up to in those "missing years", Klingon interrogators use Centurion slugs (also featured later in the film) to try to coax some information out of him. There's a big gaping, bleeding hole in the middle of the reboot of Star Trek and it's the question of what the heck Nero was up to for the 20 years between his killing of Kirk's dad and his destruction of Vulcan. Deleted Scene Revealed Star Trek was great, but if the movie had any flaws they can all pretty much be traced back to a single source: The movie needed more Nero. Eric Banas villain never really got the kind of character development he deserved, or at least not in the version of the movie we saw. I loved the movie, but this highlights the one aspect I hated — shaky-cam, quick-cut action sequences that give you no sense of the spatial awareness of a scene, just the cliff’s notes cause and effect. This scene as well as others will be on the DVD and Blu-ray release of the the film which is coming on November 17th, 2009. I see why the scene was deleted, not that it’s bad, but it just doesn’t feel like it fits with the rest of the film quite as well. It feels a little too campy.
