Video of the Day: The Dark Knight's Gotham
Gothamist —
The latest in the Batman canon, The Dark Knight, is poised to be next summer's blockbuster hit, and ex-Brooklynite/current Manhattanite Heath Ledger seems to be stealing the show. A trailer recently came out with plenty of focus on Ledger's Joker character, and you can watch it below (MTV also has a shot-by-shot analysis). Does he outshine Jack Nicholson's 1989 Joker? Probably not, but we're excited to see this new take on the crime clown.

There’s so many reasons to visit the cineplex in the coming year, it may be a good time to invest in Milk Duds and stop worrying about how the writer’s strike is affecting your favorite TV shows. Is this the end for the Justice League of America?

Freak like me ... Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight It's not been a good week for Superman. First, it was announced that the sequel to Superman Returns has been pushed back to 2010 , and word is that Bryan Singer , the comic-movie auteur behind the last movie is fast losing interest in the project. But onto the good news. The latest word from Hollywood is that the Justice League of America movie - based on DC's multi-hero caper that unites Supes, Batman, Wonder Woman and a bunch of rubbish ones - will likely be the latest casualty of the writers' strike . It's kind of a glass-half-full situation. ...

The new Batman trailer featuring Heath Ledger as The Joker
Hot Momma Celebrity Gossip Blog —
Here is the new trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight, out next summer. It includes some of the first looks at the late Heath Ledger in his debut as the Joker and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes 2.0, after Katie Holmes did not reprise her role. Returning are Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. I highly recommend you watch this trailer and get a glimpse at the powerful performance Heath Ledger recorded.
Unlike 1989’s “Batman,” in which the deranged, disfigured clown appearance of Jack Nicholson’s Joker resulted from a dip in chemical goo, “The Dark Knight” starts right in ...
Director's Guild Announces DGA Award Nominees

What's that smell? Mmm...Awards Season!
Just hours ago, we posted the nominees for the Writer's Guild awards, and just a short while ago, Director's Guild Vice President Taylor Hackford walked up to some podium or another and said, "A film is a collaboration, but it is the director's energy and vision that brings the elements of script, performance and production into a satisfying totality. Today's nominees demonstrate how vision, combined with skill and talent, creates magic on the screen. What makes this award truly meaningful to directors is the knowledge that only this award is decided solely by ...
