Writers Strike: Big Day In Hollywood
TV with MeeVee —
Several thousand writers and assorted hangers-on (Teamsters, Alicia Keys) rocked downtown Hollywood yesterday in the last big pre-Thanksgiving strike action. And the studios sent out a memo about next week's resumption of talks that was less combative than most of the other verbiage coming from them lately. Looks like the writers have won the war of public opinion. But given the failure rate for movies and TV shows, you have to wonder just how much the studios know/care about what the public thinks. This could be a huge break, or merely a blip that will be long-forgotten when the writers are still on strike in April. Keep your fingers crossed. ...

The Secret Lives Of Striking Writers' Pencils [Short Ends]
Gawker: defamer —
· Not to be outdone by SNL colleague Fred "Roger Trevanti" Armisen's strike video, Will Forte and Kristen Wiig demonstrate the many exciting, non-writing uses for the pencils WGA members put down 17 days ago.

· We would've accepted "because that's what eventually happens when you give a trampy 17-year-old millions of dollars" as a reason for why Britney Spears' life has become such a mess, but Dr. Drew has a more detailed theory.

Weird Web Wednesdays: World’s Fastest Clapper
Film Junk —
Everyone has heroes and role models that they look up to, and I think I have just found a new one: Kent “Toast” French, current holder of the world record for fastest clapping! I feel like I should be paying admission to watch him do his thing on YouTube, but I guess when your nickname is Toast, sometimes internet celebrity status is all you can hope for. Also this week on Weird Web Wednesday, check out some celeb reactions to the notorious 2 Girls 1 Cup video, how the real world might work if everyone talked like the internet, and a seriously scathing rant about the Power Rangers Animated Series! (Note: I think something may be wrong with this kid.) There’s also ...

The Moviezzz Blog —
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Will Forte and Kristen Wiig made the following WGA STRIKE video about the importance of a pencil. You can visit the site discussed here, Pencils2MediaMoguls.com. Apparently, if you send a pencil, you will be entered in a contest, where you could receive a call from a cast member of LOST, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, SMALLVILLE or other shows. SMALLVILLE seems to have the most fan support, with the winner getting a call from Lois Lane and Supergirl.
MERRY LISTMAS: The 10 Best Things To Happen To The Internet Because Of The Writers Strike
Best Week Ever —
In the weeks that have passed since the film and television writers first went on strike, and all of my favorite TV shows started to disappear from the air (right as I finally got an HDTV nonetheless!), my evening hours have passed with an unfulfilled boredom I've only managed to escape with alternately binge drinking at holiday parties and burning through my entire DVD collection. But the one ray of entertaining light that has shined through these bleak clouds of content-less television is the massive amounts of funny stuff the bored writers have putting onto the Internet in support of their cause. I've taken the time to round up the Ten Best ...
