Published 3/12/2008 by noz at XXL
Yo, I don’t even know. My dudes, I don’t have the slightest clue . I hinted at this in a less carefully penned post , but lately I’ve been revisiting some of hip hop’s classic magazines and one thing that sticks out (aside from the Cross Colors ads) is the sheer dignity that these publications showed in placing garbage in the trash [1] and calling sell outs out. The sell out rapper was loathed, their records banned, burned and banned again. Not anymore in this era of post player hater haters. Please tell the truth. If you are interested in buying the video through iTunes, click the title link (where available, if not the link goes to YouTube where you can watch the video in full screen). If you are interested in buying the song, look for a link in the analysis. Picture to Burn - Taylor ...

For this week's playlist, Steve Jones combines the old and the new in his pick of the week and mixes the two throughout his other 10 playlist tunes.> Pick of the week : Stay With Me (By the Sea) , Al Green featuring John Legend: Al Green built his near 40-year legend working with producer Willie Mitchell at Memphisâ Hi Records. On his upcoming Lay It Down , co-produced by Green and Roots drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and keyboardist James Poyser, the singerâs sound gets an update without losing his signature vibe. Here the legend is joined by Legend, who has no problem easing into the vintage groove. Green, meanwhile, is as seductively soulful as ...
The Roots: Rising Down
Published 5/1/2008 by ipoppedoff at AllHipHop.com
If you’re still not a Roots fan, what’s the hold up? Rocking since their 1993 Organix debut up until now their tenth proper go around, Rising Down (Def Jam), the Philadelphia Rap band have scored a legion of devotees. Like Shawty Lo dey know, as in their fans, what to expect from a new Roots album.
Nevertheless ad nauseum critical speculation on what this ?uestlove and Black Thought led outfit will pull next and whether it will finally get them over that mainstream hump abounds before all their new projects drops. All the jibber jabber ...
