TV's Top Music Moments of 2007
Published 12/28/2007 by drake leLane at thus spake drake
After a popular series finale fades -- or cuts -- to black, nowadays tthere's a mad dash to find the song that ushered out the show. Download stats the next day go through the roof, and sometimes that recording will make a mark on Billboard charts. This year, that scenario happened time and time again, even bringing a group long since out of favor back into the limelight. Not all the moments I have below followed this path, but they all stuck with me, long after the credits rolled. 10. TV's Death Log
Published 1/2/2008 by Joel Brown at TV with MeeVee
Looking back over today's posts, we've been doing a lot of hating. So let's just say I loved Dan's look back at the Year In Death on TV over at TiFaux. Mind you, I don't agree with it all - he is totally wrong to put Tony Soprano's fade to black as the worst death of the year. No question Tony got whacked, as, Dan rightly notes, former "Jeopardy" champion Bob Harris has done a pretty good job of proving. The guy in the Members Only jacket whacked Tony, 'nuff said. But as freaked as I was initially when the screen went black without gunplay or explanation, I now think - brilliant. See ...

HBO Preserves New Jersey For Possible Sopranos Movie [The Cinema]
Published 3/6/2008 by Richard at Gawker
Recently Nick D'Urso, manager of New Jersey's Satin Dolls gentleman's club, got a call from HBO asking him to hold off on his planned renovations. You see, Satin Dolls also doubles as the Bada Bing strip club from HBO's stunning, somber, and definitively over mob series The Sopranos. D'Urso swears that he heard legit info that a Sopranos movie could be in the works and HBO is making sure its top locations stay as much the same as possible. Soprano Sue, a crazed fan of the show who did some amateur location scouting for HBO, also says she heard about a movie from a crew member. And that ...

["“If you look at the final episode really carefully, it’s all there.”* These are David Chase’s words regarding the finale of the Sopranos. He is right, it is “all there”. This is the definitive explanation of why Tony died in Holsten’s in the final scene of The Sopranos. The following is based on a thorough analysis of the final season of the show and will clear up one of the most misunderstood endings in film or television history. Chase took almost 2 ...

It goes on and on and on and on...

Today marks the one year anniversary of the now famous cut to black that marked the ending to The Sopranos. The effect was immediate, and while the cultural ripples have faded some, the debate still roars on. David Chase's ambiguous and sudden end to the final Sopranos episode still hasn't escaped our collective psyche... and ultimately, that's the genius of the ending. Several tv blogs and websites are revisiting the debate today, with nearly all pointing to this nearly 2200 word missive on the subject. It's a passionate argument for a 'Tony's dead' ending -- all I needed ...

Sampling meets Obama? It's Obampling!
Published 30 days ago by Will Dean at Music: Music blog | guardian.co.uk
So what've we learnt from this year's election? That nationalising a nation's banking system isn't socialist, but raising taxes on high earners is? That it's quite easy to get through to Sarah Palin's cell? Or - most importantly - that Barry Obama's oratory skills make for kick-ass samples? It seems that Obama ...
