Black Eyed Peas front man, Will.i.am will be honored as Artist of the Year at the 12th Annual Webby Awards on June 8-10 in New York City. The Webbys are honoring Will.i.am for his contribution to the “political landscape” with his “Yes We Can” video. The video, which he put on YouTube in February 2008, features celebrities such as John Legend, Common and Scarlett Johansson among others was created in support for the presidential candidate and has been viewed over 17 million times since its premiere. I saw this clip in my inbox a couple days ago and skipped it thinking it was one of those stan-ish “Vote for Obama or I’ll kidnap your babies” type songs. I was wrong. Ti$a (of Sa-Ra fame) turns the seriousness of will.i.am’s “Yes We Can” on its head, opting for a giddy, fun chant instead. Suddenly, I feel like rollerskating. ShareThis
