Writers Strike: Showdown On Pico
TV with MeeVee —
THE LATEST: Today should be fun and games as the writers turn out en masse for a rally outside the Pico gate of Fox featuring live music from Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. Details on WGA plans for that are here. The studio's email to its employees on dealing with strikers is here. Expect this to be a media circus, because the machine-owned local media have been taking a shitload of grief for lame coverage of the strike against their parent companies.
There's also talk of shaming both sides back to the negotiating table with a list of little people who are out ...

N/A —
As I take a break, drink some coffee and eat a banana, I thought I’d surf a little YouTube to see what kind of videos people are making about the WGA strike. I haven’t talked about it because Craig over at The Artful Writer is doing quite well and to be honest, I don’t ...
Kevin Costner Speaks out on Hollywood Writers' Strike -- But He Doesn't Say Much
The Feed —
My buddy Tom Jones on the Times sports staff shot me this quote from Kevin Costner during his Tampa Bay stop speaking up on the writer's strike. Here's Mr. Bull Durham's insights on the current work outage:

But now they have families they they have to look out for. ...

GALACTICA SITREP —
Another simple explanation of the situation for writers in New Media. At Friday's WGA rally at Fox, author Harlan Ellison can be seen here in photo number 2 holding a sign that says, "Nick Counter Sleeps with the Fishe$$$". (Nick Counter is the mafia style negotiator for the corrupt corporate bosses of the AMPTP.) Writer Josh Friedman, the show runner of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (to be scored by Bear McCreary) has a great blog post on the strike. Also, check out the latest from Ken Levine on the march up Pico.

Living the Romantic Comedy —
Happily, we can now carve up our turkeys with the assurance that the writers and producers are returning to the table after the holiday to begin their talks again -- not that this means anything beyond the fact that they'll be talking. But we can always hope.
Some have suggested that one factor in what brought about this turn of events sooner than later is that the writers have done a good job of getting their position across to the general public. The mainstream audience has always loved an underdog story, and once it becomes clear that by "the producers" one is referring to mega-corporations, the ...
