Grand Theft Auto: Beirut, Meets A Scanner Darkly

Waltz With Bashir, the first official trailer from cinemascopian.com on Vimeo.
Jeff Wells points to Cinemascopian, where blogger Yair Rave has posted the Vimeo trailer for Cannes competition entry Waltz With Bashir. This film wasn’t on my tentative must-see schedule (which I’ll be posting here before I get on a plane tomorrow), but I might find a place there, thanks to my Sita Sings the Blues-rekindled love of grown-up animation. Cinemascopian calls it an “animated quasi-documentary”; style-wise it looks a lot like ...
Video of the Day: Cannes Fav 'Waltz with Bashir' Gets a Trailer
Published 5/15/2008 by Erik Davis at Cinematical
Filed under: Animation, Drama, Cannes, Fandom, Trailers and Clips Waltz With Bashir, the first official trailer from cinemascopian.com on Vimeo. An early Cannes favorite, Cinematical's Kim Voynar describes Waltz with Bashir as a "beautiful, disturbing and deeply compelling film" that "could wind up with an Oscar nod come January." The animation looks stunning (love the gold in those beach scenes), and I'd definitely agree with Spout's Karina Longworth who calls it "Grand Theft Auto: Beirut, ...
Waltz With Bashir Potential Oscar Nod?
Published 5/16/2008 by Sasha Stone at Awards Daily 2008
Cinematical’s Kim Voynar believes that Waltz wth Bashir could be looking at an animated Oscar nod next year. It has some tough competition, though.
Here is a trailer (from Cinemascopian)
Waltz With Bashir, the first official trailer from cinemascopian.com on Vimeo.
And Kim Voynar’s money shot:
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Waltz with Bashir show up on the slate at Telluride in September, and even less so to see it wind up with an Oscar nod ...

Rusty James : two other films with Linda Manz - Out of the Blue (directed by Dennis Hopper) and of course Gummo. Rusty James : Days of Heaven Kurt Halfyard : I agree Rusty, someone out with the title please ! And some thoughts on the film, I watched it for the first... Going to Telluride.

by Ryland Walker Knight I've known for a while now that I'll be attending this year's Telluride Film Festival as part of the Student Symposium. But now that I know I've got my travel arrangements squared away, I thought I'd go ahead and blog about this exciting opportunity to invite recommendations (restaurants, bars, where to run, etc), donations (hey, it ain't cheap), stories (who did you meet?), any and all kinds of enthusiasms for one of the most unique film festivals I know. So unique that it won't announce its lineup for a while yet. But if tradition holds there will probably be a few of the Cannes '08 films, maybe some 2007 hold ...

Cinemascopian posts the animated short that has evolved into $9.99, the stop-motion feature that will have its world premiere in Toronto next month. It looks like the first two theatrical animated features produced in Israel are premiering in Toronto at the same time (Waltz With Bashir and $9.99).
Here's the Waltz with Bashir trailer. It's a cool movie ...

First Look: Waltz With Bashir
Published 10 days ago by John at Reel Suave
The film that took four years to complete is collaboration between Israeli, German and French production houses. The film talks about the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre. But the uniqueness of this film is the fact that it is an animated documentary. It has already received widespread acclaim at its premier at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is totally unusual in it being a documentary movie made by animation. The rules of animation were sorted of changed last year with the release of Persepolis. Many people have said that it will be a new era in animation and now with the release of this movie it will take animation a step further. The ...
