Remember when Weezer was groundbreaking and rad? After what I have been reading about them in the last few weeks, it’s been getting harder and harder for me to remember that.
First it was bad when I read that they recorded a song with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. Then I heard (see below) they were spotted performing with Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester at a show in NYC over the weekend. Ah, Weezer. How I hearted them so very long ago — I would honestly throw the Weezer/Weezer album pretty high up there on “defining albums of my douchebaggy little childhood” along with Ten, Nevermind, Siamese Dream and a few others. No, Weezer’s not as cool as Pearl Jam or Nirvana (and never will be) but they’ve possessed some longevity that most bands can’t manage (looking at you, Candlebox!) and they still crank out pretty good music.
