Ari Melber: Obama's Star-Studded YouTube Music Video
Published 2/2/2008 by Ari Melber at Huffington Post Entertainment Blog
Musicians and celebrities are some of the most popular subjects on YouTube, and a new video is tapping that star power to mobilize young voters for Barack Obama.
On Saturday, YouTuber user "WeCan08" uploaded "Yes We Can," a music video for a new Obama ballad by the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am and director Jesse Dylan, Bob Dylan's son. The "song" was essentially written by Barack Obama, since the lyrics are adapted from his "Yes We Can" speech after the New Hampshire primary. That speech, of course, was inspired by Cesar Chavez's motto for a United Farm Workers hunger strike in 1972. Excerpts of Obama play throughout the video, with ...

Barack Obama is like Kermit the Frog: Someone else may be your personal favorite, but he's the one that gets the most attention, so he's the one who ends up in all the parodies. Obama can be mashed up with any meme, because anyone can assign him any qualities: like Kermit, his everyman status makes him ripe for satire. To demonstrate, in no particular order but numbered anyway, here are the top twelve memes that have carried Obama to the nomination. 1. The Progress Poster: By the artist who brought you "OBEY" comes "PROGRESS."
Part of: The eternal meme that is Obey Giant, a graffiti joke turned art that started ...

Shelly Palmer: Obama vs. McCain: The First Networked Campaign
Published 6/9/2008 by Shelly Palmer at Huffington Post Entertainment Blog
Back in 1960 the skills required to become President of the United States changed forever. That was the year that John F. Kennedy debated Richard M. Nixon on national network television for the first time. When reminiscing about Kennedy's win, pundits love to cite that he was tanned, good looking, had great hair and had his make-up professionally applied, while Mr. Nixon appeared pale, had a nervous demeanor and sweaty brow. They say that Nixon won on the radio but Kennedy won on TV. 1960 ushered in the era of the Network politician. For better or for worse, after the 1960 debate, not only did every politician ...
The Rich And Famous Stole The Web [The Internets]
Published 7/23/2008 by Michael Weiss at Gawker
You're dying to know who the top ten most influential and innovative celebrities on the Internet are, and something horribly misnamed the Econoclast10 is here to tell you. Will Ferrell, unsurprisingly, owns fratboy comedy. Will.i.am with his Obama-deifying "Yes We Can" video social networks like your little goth sister wouldn't believe. And Peter Gabriel may not have had a hit since "Steam" but his website The Filter (Amazon's recommendations turned into a whole service) apparently outranks Tila Tequila's MySpace and Martha Stewart's gargantuan cyberbrand. McCain Ad Calls Obama "Biggest Celebrity In The World." ZING!
Published 7/30/2008 at Radar: Fresh Intelligence Blog
John McCain has a new attack ad (shock!) out today against Barack Obama . "Celeb" calls Barry the "the biggest celebrity in the world" while juxtaposing video of him with pictures of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears . If you think about it, the comparison works all three are blond, vapid, attention-seeking skanks. But isn't it a tad trite for Republicans to paint Democrats as in the pocket of "Big Acting?" Even if it seems to be true ...

You may have heard this song already.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t have something to say.
There’s a few different issues at play here. Maybe most important for the non-hip-hop fan is the black eye it gives Ludacris for people who only know him as a rapper who Bill ...
John Rich Wants You To Vote For McCain Without Even Looking At Him [Political Song For John Rich To Sing]
Published 8/15/2008 by Maura Johnston at Idolator
John Rich has released the video for his pro-John McCain country boilerplate "Raising McCain," and it's a curious clip for one reason: There isn't a single shot of the Republican Presidential candidate anywhere in it. In what I'm assuming is a way to prove to the Obama-infatuated kids out there that yes, young people actually are going to vote Republican come November, the clip is instead populated by a bunch of Rock Of Love casting-call rejects who are waving around "McCain" signs. (There is one—but only one!—older woman in the audience, who I guess has been placed in the clip ...

Soundtrack of My Life

[image] Song: Yes We Can Artist: Barack Obama Album: None I know I've dropped this video on you before , but after the stirring speech delivered last night, I felt it only right to include this song in the Soundtrack. While I am certainly not an American, Barack Obama gives me hope and that speaks to the power of his words, his presence and his conviction to make our world a better place. What he said about the American soldiers - that they weren't fighting for Red America or Blue America but the United States of America - sent chills down my spine and still does as I re-read it again today. These are the messages that we need to ...
Women Flock to JohnMcCain.Com For the Hot Senator Pics

Barack Obama revolutionized the presidential race when his supporters took to the web in unprecedented numbers to promote his campaign. YouTube, which didn't exist for the 2004 elections, was an influential factor in favor of the Democratic nominee: Think of Obama Girl's popularity and will.i.am's Yes We Can as the campaign slogans of the new media, as well as the new candidate.
But as it turns out, even previously computer illiterate John McCain is more than a little web savvy; his official campaign website drew an average of 1.2 million unique users last month, while Obama's scraped ...
